Total hotel investments in Greece soars at €4B from 2020 to 2022

The investments refers to both the construction of new hotels and the renovation/repair/maintenance of existing hotel rooms.

Total hotel investments in Greece between 2021 and 2022 are estimated at €4 billion according to the latest study by the Institute of the Association of Hellenic Tourism Enterprises (INSETE).

The investments refers to both the construction of new hotels and the renovation/repair/maintenance of existing hotel rooms.

In particular, the investments in 2021 were estimated at € 1,894 million and in 2022 at € 2,033 million. According to the study, 11,268 new rooms were added in 2021 and 13,666 new rooms in 2022.

Renovations included 433,541 rooms in 2021 and 440,904 rooms in 2022.

Most of the investments concerned 4-star hotels, as out of the total 8,181 rooms concerned 4-star units, 5,860 3-star hotels, 5,711 1 and 2-star units and 5,182 rooms 5-star units.

With regards to investments in other accommodation, outside of hotels, (rental rooms, villas, etc.), the total investment is valued* at € 1,525 million for 2021 and at € 1,636 million in 2022.
