GRIMALDI consortium inks deal to acquire stake in the Port of Igoumenitsa

The contract was signed for the transfer of management of the Port of Igoumenitsa to the Consortium GRIMALDI EUROMED – MINOAN LINES – EKEB which acquired 67% of the share capital of the "Igoumenitsa Port Authority SA". currently owned by TAIPED, for a total price of €84.17 million.

The remaining 33% remains with HRADF, which will additionally receive 3.5% of the annual revenues of the Organization's activities.

To "Igoumenitsa Port Authority SA" (OLIG S.A.) has been granted the right to exclusive use and operation of the grounds, buildings and facilities of four ports, namely the port of Igoumenitsa, the fishing sanctuary of Sayadas, the fishing sanctuary of Plataria and the yachting sanctuary of Sivota, located in the northwest Greece, in the Region of Epirus.

The concession agreement has a duration of 60 years from its signature and expires on February 3, 2062.

With Igoumenitsa acting as a vital gateway connecting the western part of Europe with Greece, the Balkans and even the Black Sea, the strategy of the new scheme is to attract and further enhance maritime services dedicated to transporting both of both goods and passengers between this port and Italy.
