Fylis Municipality on a new major road safety project

Fylis Municipality effort to promote road safety and especially for the road safety of the educational community is being enhanced.

The project with a budget of €2.8 million is financed by the Recovery Fund, while the Municipality will contribute with its own resources €700,000.

It includes interventions in 37 city streets for reconstruction and 27 streets outside school buildings for the installation of colored carpet, appropriate signage and urban equipment, namely:

a. City streets: The intervention proposes a comprehensive response to the multiple serious problems observed in the existing infrastructure and pedestrian safety. Reconstruction of asphalted roads in dangerous places is foreseen.

b. Streets around schools: Application of colored thin carpets on the streets, where speed reduction and increased attention are required, appropriate markings and urban equipment for pedestrians, cyclists, students.

c. General Works: Reconstruction of crossings, where required, with colored materials in combination with the lowering of sidewalks for the disabled, markings and reflectors. Re-creation of existing horizontal markings/lines to demarcate the necessary space for maneuvering and movement of vehicles, parking spaces for vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles, vehicles with disabilities, in places where the existing one does not meet the specifications, is damaged or absent. Re-creation of vertical signage (information, guidance or combination signs), in places where the existing one does not meet the specifications, is damaged or absent. Reconstruction/creation of sidewalks for safe pedestrian crossing and level adjustment of existing network visit wells to improve road safety.
