To date, fewer than 200,000 elevators have been registered on the relevant platform, while the total number in Greece is estimated at 900,000.
It is reminded that the registration process is mandatory and can be completed by any resident of a building, whether an owner or manager of a residential or multi-unit property, as well as by the responsible operator of a public building. The registration can also be completed by maintenance personnel or installers.
The inventory will include seven mandatory fields, which are considered common knowledge for those required to submit the declaration. These fields will contribute to the statistical processing of data by the competent services of the Ministry:
Address and installation location – Property KAEK (details will be automatically filled via interoperability, or manually entered where no KAEK exists).
- Number of elevators in the building
- Year of elevator installation
- Number of elevator stops
- CE marking status
- Existence of current or past certification and its date
- Owner/Manager or Maintenance/Installer information (to be obtained through the identification process).
Based on the collected data, a timeline for the next steps will be determined to ensure the modernization and upgrade of elevators, which will be certified as necessary for safe operation.
Elevators that are not registered within the prescribed deadline will incur fines ranging from €1,000 for multi-unit residential buildings to €5,000 for buildings with public access.
