The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is investing €20 million in a senior unsecured bond issued by AKTOR Group of Companies in Greece.

The €140 million bond, with a five-year tenor, will be listed on the Athens Stock Exchange and is AKTOR’s debut issuance.

The Bank’s investment will back AKTOR’s activities in renewable energy generation, battery energy storage systems, social infrastructure, water supply and wastewater projects in the country, fostering the green transition and enhancing climate resilience. It will also promote greater private-sector participation in public infrastructure projects.

The overall bond proceeds will be used to fund the issuer’s operations, including activities in infrastructure, energy and facility management, as well as acquisitions and the refinancing of existing debt for the issuer and/or its subsidiaries.

The bond issuance will also contribute to the further development of Greece’s local capital markets, reinforcing their role as a viable and sustainable financing channel for corporates and as an attractive platform for investors, diversifying the available asset base.
