Effective from the specified date, the digital application for the electronic submission of liquid assets declarations at Customs entry and exit points will be fully operational.
This application will be accessible at all Customs offices and the 42 entry/exit points nationwide (land borders, international airports, and seaports), permanently replacing the previous manual process. At these locations, computers will be available for submitting the relevant declarations, and Customs officers will be on hand to assist, if needed.
With the implementation of this digital process:
-
The procedure for travelers carrying legally transported liquid assets into and out of the country will be significantly streamlined.
-
It enables the electronic registration, tracking, association, and cross-checking of relevant data, thus enhancing the effectiveness of Customs controls.
Specifically, the digitization of the process:
-
Facilitates timely intervention and more targeted enforcement of controls.
-
Ensures greater transparency and integrity in Customs operations.
-
Strengthens the role of Customs authorities in combating money laundering, terrorism financing, and other illicit activities.
In Greece, approximately 5,000 liquid assets declarations are submitted annually. In 2024, a total of 4,866 declarations were submitted.
