Prices for construction materials increased by 3.1% in May 2025

According to data released by ELSTAT, construction material prices rose by 3.1% year-on-year in May.

According to the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), the General Index of Construction Material Prices for new residential buildings increased by 3.1% in May 2025 compared to May 2024. This rise is lower than the 5.5% annual increase recorded between May 2023 and May 2024. 

On a monthly basis, the index rose by 0.3% in May 2025 compared to April 2025, while the corresponding monthly increase last year was 0.5%.

Notable Price Increases:

Significant price increases were observed in the following materials:

Electricity: +18.0%, Heating radiators: +7.3%, Plastic pipes: +7.2%, Bricks: +5.4%, Copper pipes: +5.4%, Aluminum frames: +4.8%, Electrical switches: +4.5%, Ready-mixed concrete: +4.2%, Admixtures for mortars and concrete: +3.8%, Marble tiles: +3.7%, Pipes (plastic, synthetic, fiber cement): +3.7%, Tiles (floor and wall): +3.6%, Plastic acrylic water-based paints: +3.4%, Parquet flooring: +3.4%, Cement: +2.8%, Price Decreases:

Conversely, price reductions were recorded in:

Reinforcing steel: −0.9%, Diesel fuel: −8.7%

These fluctuations reflect broader trends in energy and raw materials markets, and they contribute to shaping the overall cost dynamics in the construction sector.
