With an average occupancy of 69.1% (compared to 54% in 2021), 2022 was also completed for the hotels of Athens - Attica, as emphasized in a relevant announcement by Ε.X.Α.Α.Α.A., but this occupancy is quite short of the equivalent of 2019 (77.4%).

However, December 2022 was the first month to close positively by 7.9% even compared to 2019. However, it should not go unnoticed that Athens compared to traditional competitors, such as Istanbul, they seem to be performing much better and average occupancy and room rates and revenue per available room (RevPar).

Athens turned out to be the only capital that did not achieve a "triple-digit" increase in its RevPar in 2022 compared to 2021, but was limited to a "double-digit" increase of 63.1%. In any case, Athens' 2022 average room rate (ADR) "locked in" at €121.45, a price increase of only 14.4% compared to 2019 - in contrast to the increases achieved by its competitors over the same period of Athens.

Especially in terms of revenue per available hotel room, the trajectory was recorded as "moderately positive" from June 2022 onwards. But the revenue per available room for the year did not exceed €83.95 - compared to €82.20 in 2019. So, in a time of high inflation, increased costs for businesses and increased operational needs, there was only a very small positive change, 2.1%, compared to 2019, as emphasized in the announcement.
