In the following days, a unique urban regeneration project will begin and connect Aphrodite Park through the regeneration of Cyprus Avenue, Alexioupoleos Avenue with the squares also under reconstruction El. Venizelou, Iroon Polytechniou (central square of Agia Triada) and Ag. Barbara - March 25 - Chrysostom of Smyrna.
The aim is to create a "Green Network" which is essentially a linear type of configurations, which are offered for use in non-motor vehicles (bicycles, skates), pedestrians and people with mobility difficulties.
These formations consist of suitable plant species (evergreen or deciduous), planted in suitable places. The plantings filter, block or direct the flow of air in the desired paths, while at the same time they function beneficially in the purification of the city air, but also as thermal insulation bodies for the immediate and wider surrounding area. They can also achieve a reduction of the maximum temperature of the summer and help to deal with the phenomenon of the thermal urban islet.
The project includes general restructuring and renovation interventions in the municipal park on Aphrodite Street on the border of Elliniko and Argyroupoli, landscaping of paths, flower beds, sports, play and entertainment areas, as well as the supply of green items, planting works, procurement and equipment , outdoor sports equipment, playground equipment and plant material, in place of existing ones or to supplement them.
