The Athens Metro Line 4 project has been initiated

The line comprises 15 new stations, that will span throughout the most populated suburbs of Athens.

The Minister of Infrastructure and Transportation, Costas Karamanlis, has announced on his social media accounts that the works for Line 4 of the Athens metro have been started.

The new line will be 13km long and is expected to change the transportation map of the Greek capital. The line comprises 15 new stations, that will span throughout the most populated suburbs of Athens and will be connected to the existing metro lines through two response stations.

More specifically the "U" shaped Line 4,  consists of 2 radially shaped legs, towards Galatsi and Maroussi, and a central section passing through the center of Athens, has a total length of 38.2 km, includes 35 stations in total and consists of five distinct sections, A, B, C, D and E:

Part A: Veikou Grove -Goudi (12,8km long with 15 metro stations)

Part B: Goudi - Marousi (9,6km long with 8 metro stations)

Part C: Evangelismos - Ano Elioupoli (4,1km long with 3 metro stations)

Part D: Veikou Grove - Petroupoli (7,5km long with 6metro stations)

PArt E: Maroussi - National Highway (4,4km long with 3 metro stations)
