A real estate assets census is being currently conducted by the Hellenic Statistical Authority and is expected to be concluded by the end of September.

According to sources familiar with ered.gr the census is conducted every ten years and aims at filling properties based throughout Greece. In addition to the total number of properties HELSTAT aims at gathering numerous qualitative data for the properties.

During the census of properties, the researchers of ELSTAT visit all the buildings of each settlement of Greece and record, for each one separately, its characteristics by completing the relevant questionnaire which is included in a special electronic application. With the census are collected data such as the number of floors, construction materials, their use or destination, the construction period, the accessibility of people with disabilities, the number of elevators, the proximity to other buildings, etc.

It is noted that this is the first time that geospatial location information of buildings is also been collected (in accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) 2018/1799 which requires the compilation of relevant geocoded statistics on a grid of one sqkm).

According to ELSTAT, the General Censuses of Buildings and Population-Residences are large-scale statistical works that requires the cooperation of a big load of human resources. For the needs of the General Censuses, 12.500 private researchers have already been called.

Those who are interested in working as Census of the Population-Residence Census (October - December 20) can submit their application electronically. In total, about 60.000 people will be employed.
