The old municipal hospital of Patras, which is a historic monument, is being renovated.

The building complex built in 1857 is a remarkable example of neoclassical architecture and a historical landmark for the city of Patras. As per the contract signed by the Municipality of Patras, the complex will be transformed into an exhibition-museum space and a digital audio-visual heritage center.

Workshops for artistic creation, a small conference center, and administrative offices will also be established. The budget for the project is 10,696,860 euros and has been included in the public investment program. The works are expected to begin soon and are estimated to take about two years to complete. The following works are expected to be carried out in the building complex:

  • A space for periodical exhibitions and activities will be created on the ground floor west part of the Hansen wing.
  • Artistic creation workshops and offices will be located in the underground western part of the same wing.
  • A small multi-purpose conference center will be created in the ground floor hall of the west wing.
  • A dining and recreation area will operate in the northwest wing.
  • Administrative offices and support functions will operate in the remaining areas of the building complex.
