The Council of State rejected the request to suspend the Flyover works in Thessaloniki.

The appeal was filed by the Association of Residents of the Constantinople Settlement, the Sheikh Sou Protection Association and the Thessaloniki Runners Association.

In fact, according to information from the Ministry of Infrastructure, the works are expected to start immediately, making it possible even tomorrow for there to be mobility at the Flyover construction sites.

The decision was communicated yesterday to the Association of Residents of the Constantinople Settlement, as confirmed to Voria.gr by the lawyer of the settlement's residents, Alexandros Adamidis. A meeting of residents will be convened in the coming days to consider their next steps.

The road project "New Eastern Ring Road of Thessaloniki" (FlyOver), with a budget of 373 million euros, is implemented through PPP and concerns the construction of an Elevated Expressway (Elevated Expressway, so-called FlyOver), approximately 13.5 kilometers long, of which 4 km on a continuous bridge, with 4 lanes, two plus an emergency lane (LEA), in each direction. The project elements also include nine uneven interchanges, eight new bridges and three new tunnels.

A high-quality road axis is thus created that will allow a quick and safe bypass of the urban tissue, reducing the volume of cars that will circulate in the city center.
