The country is experiencing a biblical disaster from bad weather. Thessaly has been almost "flattened", with human losses, missing and stranded, with incalculable damage to critical infrastructure and networks and tragic consequences for the local and national economy.

According to recently unveiled reports, 30 habitable houses have collapsed only in Megala Kalyvia Trikala. Palamas Karditsas and the surrounding villages were literally submerged under water, while major damages classifying the properties as uninhabitable were recorded in Larissa and in the neighboring municipalities and villages.

Recently, at the Larissa Coordination Center, in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the government's plan to support those affected by the "hammer" of bad weather Daniel was announced. The package of measures includes subsidies for damage restoration, for households and for businesses. One measure of government assistance is the rent or co-housing subsidy.

So far, according to government officials, the echelons of the competent services have started to carry out autopsies and records, noting that 2,500 autopsies have been carried out so far. Rent or cohabitation subsidy from 300 to 500 euros per month.

Residents in areas where houses have been damaged (ie if the house is deemed 'yellow' or 'red') will be given a rent or co-housing subsidy to cover temporary housing costs for permanent residents whose homes have been affected by the floods. The temporary housing subsidy is granted to the beneficiaries, depending on the family members who lived in the affected residence, it will range from 300 to 500 euros per month and will be given for up to two (2) years to the owners and for six (6) months to the tenants.

The interested citizens, within three (3) months from the issuance of the relevant decision, may submit an application, to the competent service of the General Secretariat for Disaster Recovery and State Aid, for the granting of the subsidy, choosing either the rent subsidy or the cohabitation subsidy - this version concerns the cases where the beneficiary is accommodated in the residence of a relative or friend for the above periods of time.

Finally, it should be noted that the start date of the subsidy is defined as either the start date of the cohabitation, or the start date of the lease that is indicated on the Proof of Submission of the Property Lease Information Statement of the Independent Public Revenue Authority and concerns the lease of the new residence.
