The anti-flood works for the regulation of the Sappho Stream in Marousi, amounting to €24,452,800, are to be included in the NSRF Program "Environment and Climate Change".

The aim of the regulation projects in the Sappho Stream is to restore the flowability of the stream, so as to ensure the flood protection of the riparian areas.

The efforts to regulate the stream begun since 2010, when the Municipality of Marousi assumed (decision number Δ10/20316/27-10-2010) the responsibility to prepare the regulation study.

Its regulation was included in the Technical Program of the Attica Region in 2016 (KAE 9775.02.074) with an initial budget of 6.2 million euros. The project budget was increased to 10.7 million euros in 2018, at the request of the Municipality of Marousi.

In the intervening period of time till now, it was not possible to tender the project, due to the fact that the flood lines are partially inside properties, as well as due to the technical solution that should be provided in collaboration with the Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company (EYDAP) for the existing pipelines.
