Olympia Odos has called upon all digital map and navigation service providers to visit and record the new section of the highway.
The Pyrgos-Kaminia segment is scheduled to open to traffic on Friday, August 1st. According to the company’s official statement, “Timely and accurate map updates have become imperative, as no driver wants to find themselves on the road without knowing how to navigate the new highway. We all recognize that seamless navigation is a crucial component of the driving experience, especially when it concerns new routes on such pivotal road infrastructure.”
With the completion of the Patras-Pyrgos segment, the travel time from Athens to Pyrgos will be reduced to just 2 hours and 45 minutes. Olympia Odos will become the third longest highway in Greece, stretching over a total length of 277 kilometers.
The new highway, the company notes, is expected to dramatically transform road transportation in Western Peloponnese. It is a landmark infrastructure project featuring modern technical specifications that ensure comfort, speed, and safety.
The Patras-Pyrgos section includes:
-
Two lanes plus an emergency lane in each direction
-
Central median barrier
-
Nine interchanges
-
Fifteen bridges
-
Twenty-seven overpasses and thirty-seven underpasses
-
Four Motorist Service Stations
-
A backup Traffic Management Center in Pyrgos
-
Two Customer Service Points
This upgrade primarily represents a major leap forward in road safety, a longstanding priority for Olympia Odos. The company aspires to replicate the impressive results seen on the Corinth-Patras section, where traffic accidents have decreased by 96%.
Furthermore, the new Patras-Pyrgos highway offers Western Peloponnese the opportunity to look ahead and redefine its tourism and production footprint, creating the conditions for sustainable development, new investments, and significant strengthening of the local economy.
With a constant focus on the future, Olympia Odos continues to build networks of connection, progress, and trust, delivering projects that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives and the development of the region.
