Taking into account the current energy crisis and in order to reduce energy consumption - especially during the winter months - GEFYRA S.A. continues to take additional saving measures, including the regular decorative lighting of the Rio - Antirio Bridge.

In particular, the company has launched the suspension of the established Saturday illumination with the blue decorative lighting, from Saturday 17 September and throughout the winter, with the exception of cases of important national or international anniversaries, during which the Link will be illuminated for a limited time period of time.

The specific measure, apart from being deemed necessary to deal with the ongoing crisis, is also in line with the company's more general environmental strategy, which has been given special emphasis for a number of years.

Through the implementation of new management measures and procedures, as well as the adoption of daily practices throughout the range of operation and maintenance operations, the carbon footprint of the Bridge has been reduced by 84.5% from 2015 to today.
