Job vacancies increase remarkably in the first quarter of 2023

There was an 83.7% increase in the number of job vacancies, in the whole economy except for the primary sector and household activities, in the first quarter of this year compared to the first quarter of 2022 (30,497 and 16,603 positions respectively), versus an increase of 148.4% in the corresponding comparison in 2022 to 2021.

According to ELSTAT, a job vacancy is considered a newly created position, an already vacant position or a position that is going to be vacant soon, for which the employer has recently taken active steps to find a suitable candidate, outside the company, and which is available either immediately or in the immediate/near future.

It is noted that the job vacancies concern only employees.

Jobs that will be filled by:

-unpaid apprentices, either from employers or from any social security body.

-contractors, who are not on the payroll.

-staff rehired or returning from paid or unpaid leave.

- internal movements in the company of the existing staff.

Immediate vacancies are full-time or part-time vacancies, which should be filled in no more than three months.
