According to decision A. 1077/2025 by the Governor of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), Mr. Giorgos Pitsilis, the requirement to declare the payment account number (IBAN) directly on the VAT return will be abolished for VAT declarations submitted from July 1, 2025.

The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) has announced that registering an IBAN in the AADE Registry—not on the VAT return form—is now a mandatory condition for submitting VAT declarations that include a refund claim.

Once an IBAN is registered in the Registry during the first VAT refund request, it does not need to be re-submitted for subsequent claims.

IBAN Registration Methods:

Online: Through the myAADE portal (myaade.gov.gr) via:

Registry & Communication > IBAN Registration

Mobile: Via the myAADE app by selecting:

Contact Details > IBAN

For Non-SEPA Accounts:

Those declaring an IBAN from outside Greece or non-SEPA countries (including the 27 EU member states, UK, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino, Andorra, and Vatican City) must:

Indicate this on their VAT return.

Submit the IBAN via the My Requests platform at:

Revenues, Refunds & Write-Offs > Tax Clearance > Foreign IBAN Declaration (Non-SEPA) for Refunds

The previous option to declare Greek or SEPA-based IBANs via My Requests has been discontinued. These must now be submitted exclusively through the Registry & Communication section on the myAADE portal or via the myAADE app.

Additionally, the wording of the VAT return form has been updated in accordance with the new VAT Code (Law 5144/2024). For assistance, taxpayers may contact the AADE Taxpayer Service Center (ΚΕΦ) at +30 213 162 1000, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
