The digital process for reducing ENFIA for natural persons' residences, insured for natural disasters, begins on Friday, February 2.

According to Joint Decision (A. 1014/2024) made by the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Haris Theoharis, and the Governor of the Independent Public Revenue Authority, Giorgos Pitsilis, for the year 2024 and beyond, natural persons' residences who have been insured for all three risks (earthquake, fire, and flood) in the previous year are eligible for reductions in ENFIA taxes. The following provisions will apply:

  • There will be a 10% reduction in ENFIA taxes if the insured residence is fully insured for the previous year.
  • If the insured residence is insured for a period of less than a year, a proportional reduction in ENFIA taxes will be granted, with a minimum of three months of insurance coverage required.

To receive the ENFIA reduction, taxpayers must submit an application through the special application on the AADE myPROPERTY platform, which will be activated on February 2, 2024. The reduction will be granted centrally, based on the details of the insured houses declared by the taxpayers, which will be cross-referenced with the data provided to AADE by the insurance companies.

The ENFIA reduction process for 2024 will include the following steps:

  • Citizens must submit an application by February 22, 2024, by selecting the ATAK(s) of the insured residence associated with their insurance policy's available details.
  • Insurance companies must confirm that the insured residence matches the insurance policy number by March 11, 2024.
  • The ENFIA reduction will be granted after the first central liquidation if the conditions are met.
It should be noted that,

the reconstruction value of insured residences, as stated in insurance policies, is set at 1,000 euros per square meter. However, for ENFIA 2024, the value is set at 900 euros per square meter, allowing more homes to qualify for the ENFIA reduction.

Submitting the Statement of Real Estate Data (E9) for the year 2024 is a necessary condition for applying for the ENFIA reduction through the application. If you don't see your properties acquired in 2023 in the application, please ensure that you have submitted the E9 declaration before attempting to enter the application again.

In cases where insurance is done on behalf of a third party, the person who has taken out the policy must fill in the VAT number of the property owners in the application. AADE will then inform the owners by email to submit their application before 22/02/2024.
