The new option for consumers aims to allow them to benefit from lower prices in the wholesale electricity market, particularly during midday hours when renewable energy production is at its peak.
According to the Ministerial Decision, the “orange” tariffs are expected to be offered by suppliers starting February 1, 2026, for large customers (businesses, manufacturers, etc.), and from April 1, 2026, for smaller customers (households and small businesses).
The government expects that the introduction of the new orange tariffs will expand consumer choice (green, blue, yellow, and orange plans) and, in turn, help reduce energy costs and ease the financial burden on Greek businesses and households.
