The Engineers and Public Works Contractors Fund (TMEDE) will host the 2nd International Conference, “Redefining the Future Horizons: Designing Tomorrow’s Sustainable Strategies,” on December 9–10 at the Bank of Greece Employees’ Association building, located at 16 Sina Street, Athens.

The event is held under the auspices of the Bank of Greece and the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), underscoring TMEDE’s institutional role and its elevated level of dialogue in the field of sustainable development. Following last year’s successful edition, which established the Conference as a reference point of international significance, this year’s event carries an even stronger international dimension. Representatives from the government, leading European officials, and experts from Greece and abroad will discuss strategies that will define infrastructure resilience and the green transition for the coming decades, with climate risk at the center of planning.

At a time when the climate crisis and pressure on natural resources are affecting daily life and the productive sector, TMEDE aims to open public dialogue on a green development strategy. Topics include water scarcity, resilience of critical infrastructure, modern environmental management, and available financing tools for implementing sustainable projects.

The Conference will be inaugurated by Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis, while the official opening address will be delivered by the Governor of the Bank of Greece, Yiannis Stournaras.

The program includes interventions by ministers Christos Dimas, Takis Theodorikakos, Dimitris Papastergiou, Nikos Papathanasis, Konstantinos Kyranakis, and Nikos Tachiou, who will present national policies on infrastructure, climate adaptation, digital transformation, and investment acceleration.

Special emphasis will also be given to local government, with the participation of the Mayors of Athens, Haris Doukas, and Thessaloniki, Stelios Angeloudis, as well as the Regional Governors of the Peloponnese, Dimitris Ptochos, and Western Macedonia, Giorgos Amanatidis.

The proceedings will be honored by Ioannis Tsakiris, Vice President of the European Investment Bank, who will analyze the role of European funding in investments for resilient and green infrastructure.

Distinguished speakers include:

  • Giorgos Stasinos (President, TEE)

  • Alexandros Exarchou (AKTOR)

  • Charalampos Sahinis (EYDAP)

  • Eleni Vrettou (CrediaBank)

  • Ismini Papakyriou (EAT)

  • Panagiotis Stamboulidis (Growthfund)

  • Loukia Saranti (SVE)

  • Thanasis Tsianos (SES)

The scientific dimension is reinforced by internationally renowned figures, including Prof. Regina Gonthier (President, UIA), Prof. Paolo Desideri (President, IAA), Giorgos Pagoulatos, Prof. Konstantinos Kartalis, Prof. Peter Droege, and Platon Stylianou.

The President of TMEDE, Konstantinos Makedos, emphasized that the Conference represents a “critical collaboration of the State, the scientific community, the engineering sector, the financial sector, and the market,” highlighting the need for immediate and coordinated action toward sustainable strategies that link economic growth, innovation, and climate resilience.
