Domes Zeen Chania is entering a new phase of development, as Domes and Brookfield — through one of its private real estate funds — have announced the formation of a joint venture, under which Brookfield will acquire a majority stake in the multi-award-winning hotel in Chania.

According to a joint announcement, the partnership will proceed with an expansion of the resort, through an investment expected to exceed €40 million.

Domes Zeen Chania, a member of Marriott’s Luxury Collection, is a beachfront resort with 105 keys, located in one of Crete’s prime tourism destinations. It has received international accolades, most recently being named World’s Leading Leisure Resort 2025 at the World Travel Awards, confirming its position among the leading luxury properties in the Mediterranean.

With this transaction, Brookfield enters the Greek hospitality market, leveraging its extensive global experience in the sector. The investment powerhouse holds in its portfolio several leading European hospitality platforms, including Center Parcs, edyn, Selenta Group, Experimental Group, and Generator Hostels.

Dr. Georgios P. Spanos, CEO of Domes Resorts, stated:
“We are particularly pleased to be forming a joint venture with one of the world’s leading real estate investors. With Domes now operating as a fully established platform supported by a strong brand, we look forward to collaborating with Brookfield as we enter the next phase of our growth.”

On the other hand, Brad Hyler, Managing Partner & Co-President of Brookfield Real Estate Group, noted:
“We are excited to invest in Domes Zeen Chania and to partner with Domes in expanding and further enhancing the resort’s services and offerings. This investment marks our entry into the Greek hospitality market, and we look forward to working with the Domes team while also exploring additional investment opportunities in the future.”
