Telecoms company Cosmote will provide free broadband connection to residents of 47 remote Greek islands, subsidized by the digital policy, telecoms and information ministry.

 

Cosmote also said that it will provide 10 GB Mobile Internet at 10 euros a month, subsidized fully for 24 months by the ministry.

It will provide all necessary equipment, such as a USB stick, for free. The subsidy totals 120 euros per annum, with one-time use and only one mobile connection.

The beneficiaries include permanent residents, and public sector, armed forces and security forces staff serving on the islands.

The program will be applied on the following islands: Agathonissi, Agios Efstratios, Agios Minas, Amorgos, Anafi, Antikythira, Antipaxi, Antipsara, Arki, Astypalea, Donoussa, Erikoussa, Farmakonissi, Folegandros, Fourni Korseon, Gavdos, Gyali, Halki, Inousses, Ios, Iraklia, Kalolimnos, Kassos, Kimolos, Koufonissia, Lipsi, Marathos, Mathraki, Megisti (aka Kastellorizo), Nissyros, Othoni, Patmos, Paxi, Plati, Polyegos, Psara, Pserimos, Samiopoula, Samothraki, Saria, Schinoussa, Sikinos, Symi, Telendos, Thirassia, Thymena and Tilos
