State arrears to the private sector eased to 3.842 billion euros in May from 3.913 billion the previous month, official figures said on Monday.

 

A monthly report by the State Accounting Office said the pending tax returns totaled 1.210 billion euros in May from 1.050 billion in April, while pending retirement applications eased to 30 million euros from 70 million over the same period, respectively.

The report said that money disbursed to general government agencies to repay arrears to the private sector totaled 173.4 million euros in the first five months of 2017, while payment of arrears during this period totaled 291 million euros.

Funding approvals for payment of pending tax returns totaled 70 million euros in the January-May period, while payments totaled 85.3 million.

Funding of pending retirement applications in the five-month period totaled 170 million euros, while payments made totaled 121.6 million.
